Tips From William & Henri

As a bride-to-be, wrapping your arms around the most perfect wedding dress is a moment you’ve probably spent years and years thinking about.

Chances are, you’ve been folding down pages in wedding mags and pinning pictures on Pinterest of dresses that have made your heart flutter, long before you even got engaged.

So once you’ve made googly eyes, and a down payment, on the dress of your dreams, the next step is to pick out the perfect jewelry to make that dress come alive even more.

But where do you start? And how do you know what looks right?

My suggestion: get a little help from the experts.

Today I turned to the brains behind William and Henri, a NYC-based company that specializes in fine diamond jewelry and custom jewelry design, for the top three tips to keep in mind when saying yes to the pieces that accessorize your dress.

1.  Keep an Open Mind

When you’re starting the process of picking out jewelry, try not to convince yourself that you know exactly what you want or know in advance what will look best. Think you’re 100% sold on wearing short earrings? Try a pair of long ones on just to see how those look with your dress. You’d be surprised at how many people come in with one idea of what they want and leave with pieces they didn’t originally intend to fall madly in love with.

2. Go For the Real Deal

Wondering if you should wear a bracelet, a necklace, a pair of earrings? Our experts recommend going for earrings and/or a necklace, since they will seen in every single picture. Everyone’s eyes are glued to your face all night long and a special pair of earrings will help you feel and look radiant.

But remember, wearing fake/costume jewelry can cheapen your entire look! You’re spending top dollar on the most perfect dress and that look deserves to be complimented with real diamonds – a sparkle that a cubic zirconia stone can’t compete with.

3. Don’t Wait for the Last Minute

You spend months planning every detail of your wedding look, including how your centerpieces will sit on the tables and what color eyeshadow you’ll wear on the big day. Try not to wait until the week before to ask yourself the question, “What kind of jewelry am I going to wear?”

Our experts recommend choosing your jewelry before deciding other parts of your look – like how you’ll wear your hair.  Or if you know you’re wearing your hair completely down, big earrings, which will be tough to see, may not be for you. In that case, it might be more important to pick a  beautiful necklace instead.
