When you’re to do list has enough checks that it looks like it’s practically complete and you’ve already briefed your bridal party on where they need to be and when, there may be one more task to make sure you have covered: chatting with your father and father-in-law. The guys of the wedding are excited to be your back-up support as you make your way down that aisle, but they may need a few final reminders before the bid day come around.
Since they probably aren’t trying on and ordering their tux along with the other groomsmen, it’s important to give them a little nudge to make sure they order their tux on time – and also what style you’d like them to order.
It may seem like a funny thing to do, teaching your father or the father of the groom to walk down the aisle, but it’s important to practice with them so they know the pace to walk and also where to stand afterward.
If you’re giving the fathers any responsibilities for the night, whether that’s to be in charge of holding on to the tip money for vendors or to take home the gifts after the wedding, send them a pre-wedding reminder.
Chances are they will be so excited to say a couple of words on your behalf that they may do it too early or too late in the night. When you’ve figured out the timeline for the day, be sure to clue them in on when their turn to toast will be so they can get prepared.
Weddings can be stressful, even for the dads! So give them a little reminder that everything is taken care of and this is a night for them to go off and let loose on the dance floor!
