11 Things all bridesmaids think and can’t say out loud

The more times you are a bridesmaid, the more you start to know what to expect. The more you know how to avoid last-minute anxiety attacks by doing things like ordering your bridesmaid dress many months before the wedding and making sure your purse is stocked with at least two bottles of Advil. 1. Will there be food?

With all the running around you do as a bridesmaid, you’re always wondering when your next meal will happen during the bachelorette party or even on the morning of the wedding. Rookie tip: pack snacks!

 

2. I hope I don’t trip and fall

One foot after another, you chat over and over in your head as you prance down the aisle. You’re more worried about falling than a Victoria Secret model is when she’s strutting her stuff down the runway.

 

3. I hope there are hot groomsmen

A perpetually single, “always a bridesmaid” girl can only dream.

 

4. Where’s the bar?

Just try, really hard, not to act on this thought until cocktail hour finally swings into motion.

 

5. Can I request a song?

When you’re ready to get the party started and break it down on the dance floor, you may have a sudden urge to switch up the Frank Sinatra that they are playing with a little Ke$ha.

 

6. Do I have to dance with the drunk uncle?

The answer to this is no, it is always no.

 

7. Will I get a plus one?

As a bridesmaid, you think that by default you should be given a plus one, but it doesn’t always happen like that.

 

8. I am never going to wear this dress again

9. How much longer until I can take my heels off?

Your feet are starting to swell, to go numb; to have daydreams about what it feels like to not be cramped inside an uncomfortable pair of shoes.

 

10. How much is this going to cost me?

When you accept your duties as a bridesmaid, you may want to check with your savings account first to see if it has any strong opinion on the matter.

 

11. Can I say no?

Remember that you can! Even when your mind is questioning whether or not you should fly across the country and spend $1,000 on one night of a bachelorette party, remember that no is definitely an option.
