When you try on your bridesmaid dress for the first time, you may find yourself eye rolling over how it looks on you. How it doesn’t show much of your personality, or even your body because it’s layered with so much fabric. You may even be struggling to pull yourself together and find a way to feel confident inside of it. But no matter what color the dress is, how itchy the fabric is, or how much you can’t wait to wear it and then toss it in the trash, here are seven ways to make that dress feel good on you.
Ask the bride if there are any jewelry restrictions. If she says you can wear what you’d like, wear items that make your personality pop and make you stand out in the line-up of other bridesmaids.
Pick a pair of shoes that you feel comfortable in and that show off who you are. If there’s no certain color you have to wear, wear something bright or shiny to add something special to the dress.
Pick out a hair style that you adore and that even compliments and accentuates the shape of the dress.
Go with a bag that’s bright and fun. You can put this down for pictures or away when you’re walking down the aisle. This is an opportunity to go bold without getting the bride upset.
See if you can alter the dress a little bit so that it fits you better. Maybe that means changing the straps or taking off a layer or two of fabric.
If you feel it will fit you better around your middle area, add a belt or something simple that holds you in better.
Once you’re on the dance floor, feel free to take the dress and alter it in any way that makes you comfortable. Tie the bottom up with hair ties or remove the straps with scissors.
