One of the first things your wedding guests will start texting and calling you about is where they should stay for your wedding day. Giving them hotel options and even hooking them up with a discount through a hotel block will help them plan ahead for your wedding. So when you’re starting to find hotels for them to stay at, be sure to know these six things about hotel wedding blocks.
Waiting until the last minute to find hotel blocks may leave you in a bit of trouble. Hotel rooms book up quickly, especially on popular wedding weekends. Start researching hotels and contacting them about doing a wedding block as soon as you can.
Provide guests with two or three hotel options at different prices so that they can book a room that’s inline with their budget. Try to have these hotels near each other, if possible, for any possible coordinated transportation that you decide to do.
When your guests receive their save-the-dates, they may start looking into wedding travel and accommodations. The earlier you can let them know about hotel room blocks, the better. Give them enough notice so that they can book a room in your hotel block and get a good price.
Some hotels will charge you a fee if you reserve rooms and some of them aren’t booked. Be sure to chat about this before and have a release clause in there, so that you don’t get stuck paying a couple of hundred dollars if rooms aren’t sold before your wedding day swings around.
Be sure to see if the hotel will bend their rules a little bit to accommodate your guests check in and check out times.
Staff members at hotels change constantly, especially if you’re working with them over a year or two before your wedding. Be sure to have more than point of contact at the hotel so that you can be guaranteed your block of rooms, even if the person you’re working with there leaves their job half-way through the year.
