Weddings are a time for endless celebration, long-nights on the dance floor, and memorable toasts. So when the glass is raised, what’s inside should be a wine or champagne that fits your taste, as well as your budget. When it comes time to deciding what kind to serve, you don’t need to be a professional wine connoisseur to make that decision, you can simply start by following these four steps to selecting your wedding wine.
This will give your guests options in case they prefer one or the other. Make sure the wines you select aren’t too heavy or even too high in alcohol content. That way, they can appeal to a wider range of people who may be more casual wine drinkers.
You don’t have to spend a fortune to service delicious wine at your wedding. There are plenty of inexpensive first-rate bottles to sleet from that start as low as $7.
If there’s a wine you like that the caterer doesn’t offer, you can bring it in yourself. Just chat with them beforehand to see if there’s a corkage fee. Then determine if bringing in your own wine, with that corkage fee, is still less expensive than going with the wine they offer.
If you don’t know too much about wine or don’t have certain types you prefer, sign up for a local wine testing at a market or specialty store. That way you can come to the wedding wine table with your likes and dislikes and choose a white and red that you’d enjoy drinking on your wedding day.
