Four Wedding Fall 2016 Trends You’ll Want to Do

August 19, 2016

As we start to say goodbye to a sun-kissed summer and welcome a brand-new season into our lives, it’s time to start saying hello to fall 2016 wedding trends. Some of these trends may fit nicely into your wedding plans so far and some of these trends may be things that make you spend the next month or two decorating your wedding and planning your centerpieces from scratch. Either way, take note of the trends and see which you’d like to have in your fall wedding or even your wedding that’s taking place in another season, whether it’s this winter or spring.

1. Daring Wedding Gowns

In the past couple of years, we’ve seen wedding dresses that are getting a bit more risky. Some wedding dress trends are tossing out tradition, whether that’s by using different fabrics or even colors. But for fall 2016, a lot of wedding dresses will be complete head turners for different reasons. Plunging necklines or backlines are in style. Dresses that have peekaboo cutouts, usually near the waist, are gaining popularity. A trend that was popular in dresses last year, the crop top and skirt look, is still sticking around this year for fall weddings.

2. Minimalistic Décor

Instead of pouring thousands of dollars into wedding decorations and towering centerpieces that block guest’s views from each other when they are sitting down at a table, décor is being totally toned down this season. The trend is having a minimal and rustic style. Having an overall atmosphere that looks effortless, natural and just plain simple is more popular than having tall centerpiece bouquets or 5-foot tall vases with floating candles.

3. Comfort Food

Instead of having the usual dinner option of steak or fish, the new trend is to have food that fits in with the bride or groom’s culture or even just liking. Whether it’s having a BBQ bar or appetizers that are one genre of food and a main course that’s another, it’s become popular to mix and match food and serve cuisine that seems like it came straight from the couple’s favorite restaurant.

4. Classic Cocktails

Signature cocktails have been a trend for years at weddings, but the newest trend is doing more craft-style cocktails that look like they came straight out of an episode of Mad Men. In addition to an open bar, that serves liquor, beer and wine, couples are doing a classic cocktail bar where they can order drinks that look like they are being drunk in the 1960’s.
