How Bridesmaid for Hire Started
The funny thing is, I never planned to become a professional bridesmaid.
Before launching Bridesmaid for Hire, I had been a bridesmaid more times than I could count. Every year seemed to bring another engagement, another bridal shower, another bachelorette party, and another wedding weekend.
While most people collected hobbies, I somehow collected bridesmaid dresses.
Over time, I became the person friends called when they needed wedding advice. I knew how to calm a nervous bride, keep a wedding timeline on track, communicate with vendors, and solve last-minute emergencies before they turned into disasters.
One day, while joking with friends, I said something that would unexpectedly change my life:
“What if someone could actually hire a bridesmaid?”
Everyone laughed. Including me.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realized there were brides who genuinely needed support.
Not because they didn’t have friends.
Not because they weren’t loved.
But because weddings are complicated.
I posted an ad on Craigslist (see above) and it went viral! And that’s how Bridesmaid for Hire was born.
When Was Bridesmaid for Hire Founded?
Bridesmaid for Hire officially launched in 2014.
At the time, there was no category for professional bridesmaids. There were wedding planners, day-of coordinators, photographers, caterers, DJs, and florists.
But nobody was offering what Bridesmaid for Hire offered.
The idea felt strange to people at first. Reporters called asking if the business was real. Friends assumed it was a joke. Wedding professionals weren’t sure what to make of it.
Brides, however, understood immediately.
They understood because they were overwhelmed.
They understood because they needed support.
And they understood because weddings are often far more complicated than they appear on Instagram.
Over the years, Bridesmaid for Hire grew from a single idea into a nationally recognized business featured by major media outlets around the world.
